Start’em or Sit’em in Fantasy Football: Bears v. Bengals

CHICAGO - While Chicago’s performance was sad to watch as a Bears fan, it was not too bad if you had wide receiver Rome Odunze or running back D’Andre Swift on your fantasy roster. Going against the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday, Nov. 2 (Noon / CBS), injuries will be crucial for setting your lineup.

Caleb Williams - Sit

Quarterback Caleb Williams started out the season with a lot of promise and fantasy upside. However, Williams has thrown two touchdowns and three interceptions in the past four games. His rushing upside is nonexistent as he has 33 rushing yards in the past four games, as well as four fumbles. With some players on bye, you may be looking for an emergency quarterback to step in. But that quarterback should not be Williams this week.

Rome Odunze - Start in PPR Leagues if Healthy

Odunze has landed on the injury report with a heel injury. He was unable to practice on Wednesday and limited on Thursday. However, he was targeted 10 times last week and leads all Bears players in targets with 56. The next closest player only has 38 targets. He is also the leading receiver by more than 100 yards. His yards have been up-and-down a little bit, making him a riskier start in non-points-per-reception (NPPR) leagues.

D.J. Moore - Start in 10- or 12-Team Leagues if Healthy?

Wide receiver D.J. Moore is one of four receivers on the injury report. Moore is listed as having a hip and a groin injury, but was able to practice on Thursday. Olamide Zaccheaus (knee) was also limited after not practicing on Thursday, and rookie Luther Burden III (concussion) has yet to practice.

It looks like Odunze, Moore, and Zaccheaus could play. If they all play, then Moore can be in your lineup in a 10- or 12-team league if your wide receiver depth is slim. It is worth noting that his chemistry with Williams is not yet fully established, as evidenced by Chicago’s final offensive performance last week against the Ravens. Therefore, do not expect a lot of production out of him.

However, if Zaccheaus is unable to play and Odunze and Moore can play, Moore becomes a better option. Zaccheaus and Moore have the same number of targets (38), showing that Zaccheaus has actually been taking some production away from Moore. Therefore, if he is out, that could help Moore get more involved.

Chicago Tight Ends – Sit Unless You Need to Want to Take a Big Risk

Whether it is Cole Kmet, who is questionable after being limited on Wednesday and Thursday, or rookie Colston Loveland, he should stay on your bench. The tight ends combined only have 37 targets. Four players have more targets than the two tight ends combined do. Even when Kmet was out, Loveland only had three receptions. Availability does not matter - the opportunities simply are not there for the tight end room right now.

The only thing Kmet and Loveland have going for them is how bad the Bengals have been against tight ends. Cincinnati has allowed the most receiving yards (594) and touchdowns (10) to tight ends. Therefore, this could be the best chance either of them has to find the end zone this season. If you like a player with high upside despite having a low floor, Kmet or Loveland could find their way into your lineup.
