Start’em or Sit’em in Fantasy Football: Bears vs. Giants

CHICAGO - After the Chicago Bears’ win against the Cincinnati Bengals, where it was raining fantasy points, the Bears will be going against another defense that generally allows a lot of fantasy points - the New York Giants on Sun, Nov. 9 (Noon / FOX).

Caleb Williams - Start

If you started quarterback Caleb Williams against the Bengals, you probably won your fantasy game. Luckily for you if Williams is on your roster, you have another good matchup for him against New York. The Giants give up the fourth-most points to opposing quarterbacks and Williams is coming off a game where he had 280 passing yards and three touchdown passes. Between that momentum and this matchup, Williams should be in your starting lineup. Furthermore, if you are someone who is looking for someone to plug in with your quarterback on bye or if Washington Commanders’ quarterback, Jayden Daniels, was your starter, Williams is a great pickup.

Rome Odunze - Consider Sitting

When the season started out, it looked like wide receiver Rome Odunze was on his way to having one of the best seasons in Bears’ history among receivers. However, he has not had a touchdown since before the bye week. With the exception of the game against the Baltimore Ravens, Odunze has failed to surpass 35 receiving yards in every game since the bye week.

Furthermore, in a game where Chicago’s offense put up 47 points, Odunze was only targeted three times and did not have a single reception. Four players had more targets than Odunze - wide receivers Olamide Zaccheaus and DJ Moore, tight end Colston Loveland and running back Kyle Monangai. Taken together, this shows Odunze’s usage is declining in an offense that has a lot of mouths to feed.

DJ Moore - Start in 10- or 12-Team Leagues, Especially in PPR Leagues

Moore has four receptions for over 70 yards in each of the past two games. His usage is on the rise as Williams looks to spread the targets around more. Furthermore, Moore has been getting some action in the run game and has a rushing attempt in six games for the Bears this season. Moore recorded his second career rushing touchdown against Cincinnati and should still see some action in the run game against the Giants. In addition, New York gives up the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing receivers. Therefore, if you are in a 10- or 12-person league or any league where your wide receiver depth is lacking, Moore has a lot of upside. This is especially true in points per reception (PPR) leagues.

Colston Loveland - Sit

After Loveland’s performance against the Cincinnati Bengals, including his game-winning touchdown at the end, it seems ridiculous to put him back on the bench. However, the Bengals were the best matchup Loveland could have asked for while the Giants are actually a tough matchup for tight ends. They have only allowed four touchdowns to tight ends through their first nine games and only allow an average of 7.5 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends. Therefore, fellow tight end Cole Kmet is back this week, which may further take opportunities away from Loveland. Loveland should go back on the bench for now.

D’Andre Swift or Kyle Monangai - Start

Starting running back D’Andre Swift comes into this game questionable after not participating in practice on Friday for personal reasons. He also had a lingering groin injury that caused him to miss last week against Cincinnati. If Swift can play, he absolutely needs to be in the lineup. If Swift cannot play, Monangai absolutely needs to be in the lineup. New York allows the third-most fantasy points to opposing running backs, meaning that whoever Chicago’s running back going into this game should get a lot of points.
