Cubs pitcher sent down to minors

Cubs relief pitcher Spencer Patton has been sent down to Triple-A Iowa on Friday to make a roster spot for lefty Mike Montgomery according to multiple reports.

Patton compiled a 5.11 ERA, 1.54 WHIP with 12 strikeouts in 12.1 innings this season with Chicago. At Iowa, Patton has an impressive 1.04 ERA this season.
