The Chicago Cubs don't play a game until Thursday but they are still making moves for their first-place squad.

According to the team's transaction page, the Cubs have activated Carl Edwards Jr. from the 'paternity list' and demoted infielder David Bote and lefty reliever Rob Zastryzny to Iowa.

Zastrynzny has a 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA (1 ER/5.1 IP) in five relief outings this season the Cubs.

Edwards, 26, is 2-1 with a 2.89 ERA (9 ER/28.0 IP) in 29 relief appearances for the Cubs this season.

The extra roster spot is more than likely left for outfielder Albert Almora Jr. who is currently on the 'family emergency list' but tweeted yesterday that everything with his wife's pregnancy is fine now.

Expect Almora Jr. to suit up for Thursday's game against the rival Cardinals.

For the season, Almora Jr. is batting an impressive .319 with four homers and 28 RBI.
