Miguel Montero pitches the 9th inning vs. Yankees

Chicago Cubs catcher Miguel Montero pitched the ninth inning against the New York Yankees on Saturday night. The Cubs were put in a fragile spot tonight with starter Brett Anderson only recording one out before leaving with an apparent back injury.

Montero was throwing all changeups according to Statcast but threw as high as 83 MPH. It was his second major league appearance of his career and he pitched admirably posting a scoreless inning with just two meaningless walks. Of the four pitchers that the Cubs used tonight, Montero was actually the only one to not give up a run.

He was the first position player to pitch against the Yankees since 8/28/15.
