WATCH: Cubs' dugout hyped after Jason Heyward barrels RBI triple |
CHICAGO — With his first triple of the season and the Cubs' second triple of 2020,
Jason Heyward barreled an RBI triple that scored
Willson Contreras from first on Tuesday. Heyward smoked the three-bagger into the right field corner of Wrigley Field, increasing the Cubs' lead.
Heyward put the Cubs up 2-0 over the St. Louis Cardinals with a triple off Daniel Ponce de Leon in the bottom of the fourth. Contreras was fired up as he motored home, and he even grinned from ear to ear as he unnecessarily slid across home plate. Clearly having some fun, Contreras slid hard across the dish with no chance of being thrown out. Much like Contreras, the Cubs' dugout was hyped about Heyward's triple and motioning for Contreras to come home.
