The Angels have their man in former Cubs manager Joe Maddon.

The Angels and Maddon have agreed to a three-year contract worth $12 million.

"We are thrilled that Joe is coming back home," Angels' general manager Billy Eppler said in a statement. "We believe Joe will be a great asset for our club and look forward to him leading the team to another World Series Championship."

Buck Showalter was the runner-up for the Angels' managerial job.

Best of luck to Maddon as he heads back home to the West Coast, where he spent 31 years with the Angels as a minor league player, minor league coach, and Angels' bench coach.

It indeed has come full circle for Maddon, and hopefully, he will have a good few years coaching Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, and others on the roster.

This is the first managerial hire out of the vacancies in the majors right now. Teams still looking include the Cubs, Giants, Mets, Padres, Phillies, Pirates and Royals.

The Cubs and the Angels will play at Sloan Park in Mesa on March 2, 2020.
