Jose Quintana injury update |
Good news to report today on the Cubs pitching front.
Cubs veteran pitcher Jose Quintana is progressing well after slicing his pitching thumb while doing dishes last month. "Jose Quintana’s checkup went well, his stitches came out and he’ll start tossing tomorrow, via NL sources," MLB insider Jon Heyman posted on Wednesday. "Team will know more once he ramps up. Quintana suffered the cut thumb injury washing his dishes, specifically his wine glasses." Quintana has been keeping himself in baseball shape with upper body and shoulder work during the last few weeks. In 2019, Quintana had a record of 13-9 with a 4.68 ERA, 152 strikeouts, and 1.39 WHIP. Obviously, he won't be ready for Opening Day but this is great news for the Cubs as Alec Mills will certainly try to hold down the fort until 'Q' is ready.
