WATCH: Jason Heyward sprints onto field carrying Chicago flag

Jason Heyward proudly showed off the Chicago flag when taking the field on Friday evening.

CHICAGO — Providing Chicago Cubs fans with a memorable scene during what has been an emotional summer in America, Cubs right fielder Jason Heyward took the field for Opening Day while hoisting the Chicago flag.

Following a moving pregame at Wrigley Field for the Cubs' opener versus the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday, Heyward sprinted into the outfield prior to the top of the first with the flag of Chicago waving behind him, bringing forth cheers from his teammates and others present at the relatively empty stadium.
