Former Cubs pitcher Neil Ramirez has been claimed by the Milwaukee Brewers after being designated for assignment by Chicago according to multiple reports.

The Cubs decided to carry three catchers including Tim Federowicz instead of 13 pitchers on the current roster.

“Neil has had a really wonderful young career with the Cubs,” Maddon said recently. “It’s hard to do that. Hopefully, he’ll have a better opportunity to play somewhere else.”

Ramirez, 26, had no record and a 4.70 ERA (4 ER/7.2 IP) in eight relief appearances with the Cubs this season. For his career, he has a 2.20 ERA with three saves and 78 strikeouts.
