Roster Moves: Cubs reduce spring roster to 31 players

MESA – The Chicago Cubs today assigned five players to Triple-A Iowa’s roster, reducing the spring roster from 36 to 31 players.

Five non-roster invitees have been assigned to Iowa: right-handed pitchers Jonathan Holder and Robert Gsellman, left-handed pitchers Steven Brault and Stephen Gonsalves and infielder Ildemaro Vargas.

Chicago’s spring roster of 31 players consists of 16 pitchers, two catchers, seven infielders and six outfielders.
