Joe Maddon rooting for Cubs to win World Series

CHICAGO — Former Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon joined 670 The Score on Wednesday morning to discuss his first season as the skipper of the Los Angeles Angels and preview the Cubs' playoff run. Maddon, who managed the North Siders from 2015-19 and won the 2016 World Series, revealed that Cubs manager David Ross recently texted him and thanked him for his support.

"David reached out to thank me for supporting him," Maddon said on the radio. "He said there were times during the season he would recall how I did things and deal with details. He was very complimentary. I was very humbled by his text, and he made my day."

The Angels finished 26-34 in Maddon's first season at the helm and missed out on the postseason. As for the Cubs' first season under Ross, they went 34-26, won the National League Central and earned the No. 3 seed in the National League playoffs. With the Angels' season over, Maddon will be rooting for the Cubs to win the World Series.

"Of course, I have been pulling for David and the team's success. We are forever linked with the incredible year and years that are probably impossible to duplicate or exceed. You never abandon your family. As I am a part of building a new dynamic group here in Anaheim, I will always pull for my guys in Chicago. With our team not being in the dance, I want them to win and win it all."
