Nationals reportedly considering a trade for Kris Bryant

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs are likely to make some drastic changes this offseason.

MLB Network's Jon Morosi is reporting that the Washington Nationals are currently being linked with Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant.

"Nats are considering a trade for #Cubs 3B Kris Bryant, among numerous hitters they’re currently monitoring on the market," he posted on social media. "Free agent DJ LeMahieu is another option, as I reported earlier today on @MLBNetwork."

Bryant currently has one year left on his contract before he hits free agency after the 2021 season. Obviously, because of Bryant's injuries (elbow, oblique, wrist issues) with his difficult 2020 season and his high price tag, the trade value is certainly not as high as it would have been the year before.

The Nationals currently have Carter Kieboom and Asdrubal Cabrera sharing the bulk of the time at the hot corner.

This should be an interesting offseason for the Cubs as they are likely going to listen to most offers they get on their veteran players.

Bryant hit a career-low .206 with four homers, 11 RBIs, and a .644 OPS in 34 games last season.

In 2019, Bryant hit 31 homers in 147 games.

For his standout career, the three-time All-Star is a .280 hitter with 142 homers and 414 RBIs.
