Rondon agrees to contract with Cubs

The Cubs and Hector Rondon avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract worth $5.8 million on Friday according to multiple reports.

Rondon will be in the Cubs bullpen in the setup role with the acquisition of new closer Wade Davis.

In 2016, he had 3.53 ERA with 18 saves, 58 strikeouts, and 0.98 WHIP. For his career, he has 2.96 ERA with 77 saves, 234 strikeouts, and 1.10 WHIP.

Rondon made 4.2 million last season.
