WATCH: Hendricks fired up the most all season

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks got Friday's win in the 8-4 victory against the Cardinals.

Hendricks is now 9-3 with a 2.65 ERA in his last 16 starts. If this is the pitcher that the Cubs will get in the postseason, the team has a shot to do well.

During the game, the 'Professor' let out an unusual show of emotion by gently pumping his fist into his glove after an out. This was one of the rare times that Hendricks showed off some emotion because he is always so level-headed which is one of the reasons he is so good.

"Fourteen wins and 200 innings," manager Joe Maddon said during postgame. "He came within one inning of getting that 200. He was outstanding for us today."

The Cubs Twitter account made fun of Hendricks' emotional state in the following tweet:

They further made a fake letter apologizing to MLB for his outburst of emotions:

Dear MLB,

We ask for your leniency and sympathy when reviewing these actions. It is a stressful weekend and emotions are running high.

Thank you for understanding.
