Cubs bench coach job update

Tony Crumpton Tony Crumpton - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs have made several coaching moves this offseason as they begin the David Ross era.

Another move has just been reported by MLB insider Jon Heyman, Cubs bench coach Mark Loretta won't be back with the club. Obviously, Loretta wasn't chosen for the managerial job so the writing was on the wall with him being back in 2020.

The Cubs have reportedly interviewed ex-Padres manager Andy Green for the bench coach position and he is "expected to be the choice."

Loretta was an infielder for the Padres from 2003-05, earning an All-Star selection and a Silver Slugger Award in 2004. He also worked in the Padres' front office prior to being named the Cubs' bench coach in January.
