Start’em or Sit’em in Fantasy Football: Bears vs Panthers

by - Correspondent -

If you started tight end Cole Kmet last week, then it went well for you. Anyone else on the Bears did not pan out that well. Receiver DJ Moore lost a fumble, but he only had three receptions for 44 yards anyway. So, what should fantasy managers do?

DJ Moore - Start

Moore has been in a bit of a slump, and it has been quite frustrating. However, his last explosive game was on Thursday Night Football, and perhaps another short week will help him rebound. Further, he is going against his former team, and he will want to make sure to be a constant problem for that Carolina defense. Quarterback Justin Fields also has the potential to be back, and Fields generally targeted Moore more frequently than undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent has. Especially with bye weeks for some prominent wide receivers, Moore is someone that you should start.

Cole Kmet - Start if Bagent Starts

Again, bye weeks are here. Tight end Travis Kelce is on bye, which is creating a problem for a lot of fantasy owners. But, Kmet is someone who has gotten a lot of targets over the last two weeks because Bagent has a tendency to target him more. Perhaps even with Fields returns, there will be more of an effort to get Kmet involved, given the success he’s had. However, if Bagent plays, Kmet definitely needs to be on your starting roster.

D’Onta Foreman - Start in 10 or 12-Person Leagues

The Carolina Panthers have allowed 14 rushing touchdowns so far this season, and Foreman is the top running back currently for the Bears, even with the return of rookie Roschon Johnson. Khalil Herbert has the potential to return from injured reserve (IR). Even so, they probably will not want to rush Herbert back into things, especially with how Foreman has been playing. He has topped 80 rushing yards in two of his last three games while also catching a reception in two of his last three games, offering an additional benefit in points-per-reception (PPR) leagues. Eight-team leagues probably have enough depth to start someone other than Foreman. However, in a 10- or 12-person league, especially one that is PPR, he should be started.

Darnell Mooney - Start Maybe?

Mooney is coming off his best game of the season with five receptions for 82 yards, both of which are season-highs. Following the season opener, Mooney was not being targeted a lot by Fields. However, since Bagent has been the starter, Mooney has been getting more attention. So, if you are in need of a wide receiver with some upside, he is someone that should be in consideration.

Chicago Defense - Start?

The Panthers are No. 28 in the NFL in total touchdowns scored. Most of those they have been able to get through the air. However, with the addition of edge rusher Montez Sweat who should get more action than last week, the defense should be able to get more pressure on Young and potentially force this rookie quarterback into making some bad decisions. He is coming off of a three-interception performance, which could also factor into things on Thursday night.
