Chicago Cubs reliever Carl Edwards Jr. will serve as the honorary drummer for the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night.

"I'm humbled yet very excited for the opportunity to be the Keep Pounding drummer," Edwards said via Panthers.com. "Growing up in the Carolinas, I've always watched the Panthers, and I was a big fan of the late Sam Mills and his never-give-up attitude and complete dedication to his teammates. It was that same 'keep pounding' spirit that helped us come back from a 3-1 deficit and bring the World Series trophy to Chicago for our fans."

Edwards pitched 36 innings and had a 3.75 ERA with 52 strikeouts in 2016.

He is one of the most talented pieces in the Cubs bullpen and will only get better with more experience.
